Of course there is some talking about another civil war. I think that would be totally random. Everything that would be needed will be in short supply. Ideology will be different in each group. Ideology will be the one thing that puts potential fighters in one group or another. Civil war is certainly not “civil”. Every group’s efforts will cause reciprocal responses. It would be a horrible thing that will be the bane of existence for us all.
How do we feed such bitterness? We do that by treating politics like it is a supreme religion. There are, and will be, differences of opinion and “religion” in everything people do. You may ask how “religion” got in the conversation. In my view, political parties are more religion than any adherent’s daily behavior. There are as many interpretations of “doctrine” as you can find in any religion. Power and not fulfillment of principles are the goal of each political party’s thoughts and actions. Divide and conquer is one goal I see too much of, is the desire to destroy a current path just to attempt a different path. Socialism and it’s history are a good example of that. There is very little faith or hope that those craving power and influence will ever fully comply with their own constitutional precepts, and by that they create confusion. That is often the true goal. It is easier to change the rules when the chaos is so objectionable people will give up freedoms. The liberty that is spelled out, is abandoned because of desires for safety or other perceived goals. More often than not, those who disrupt to create change, pretend that they were not important in the scheme to create an alternate power structure. Is the current “change” constructive or destructive? Nobody can know that answer. No plan is seen. No preparation is in place to ease a better plan in place. I hope that those creating this “ill timed” chaos will understand what this really is doing to America. I truly think that a majority of young Americans is not likely to understand. Anger is more common when communication is absent. Unresolved anger drives division. Division amplifies differences and anger. We must learn to communicate. We must learn that it is OK to disagree without becoming “enemies”. We all should also pay more attention to what it means to be American. Be the best American you can.
