Some governors think President Trump is trying to get rid of all SNAP benefits. Since those people never went to school. Retrain. Must have been Public DEI, CRT, or WOKE School. I do not think they are all hard of hearing. Or, maybe. So I will clear the confusion. All that are here illegally, not qualified to get them, and getting them, dead people still getting them at their last address, or previous addresses, and other people are using them. People using a legal citizens SNAP benefits illegally, or those that are able to work, but do not want to work. Criminals that should be in jail, but are out, and using stolen SNAP benefits. And others that are just dumb, playing dumb, or just doing it for the fun of it, in their own mind.

Snap, if people need it, should be styled like WIC. THOSE checks have a printout of what can be bought, the amount, and how much can be spent. Snap should be basics as well. Milk, cheese, specific meat, juice , fruit. NO candy no chips no caviar no lobster or crab or anything like that. I struggle weekly, just able to make ends meet. I do NOT go out and buy things like that. I work hard but that does not make me feel entitled to spoil myself for it.
Unless or until they stop giving SNAP to illegals and those who are defrauding the system, this problem will continue. I’m for the stopping of using SNAP for sugary and junk food.
The SNAP program, like WIC, was intended for TEMPORARY relief benefits to help people feed themselves or children until they could get back on their feet financially. It was (at least on paper) not intended to be a permanent lifestyle for people who didn’t WANT to work for a living. As with any Democrat program, it turned into a permanent lifestyle benefit in order to buy votes by keeping those people dependent upon government handouts. When Democrats started importing millions of illegal aliens, they signed them up also to buy their votes (illegals do vote). It turned into a total scam with working people (taxpayers) paying 40% of their neighbors not to work. It has to stop.

Following the WWII two obvious things became basis for national legislation.
The first was that farmers historically would over produce and then go broke. It was also obvious that surplus crop production was essential as a hedge against emergencies. It takes up to 2 years to “change course” on farm production.
So, farmers gained a price support system. They were paid to not grow certain crops in some years, and paid to grow surplus in other years. The surplus food was rotting in the fields. This price “support” stabilized production a bit over market need, and avoided bankrupt farmers if prices collapsed. Harvesting the surplus was the next logical step. This was the origin of the Federally supported School Lunch programs in 1946. (These replaced 1930s programs abandoned during the war.)
In the 1950s the now obvious idea was to give poor people access to that surplus food that was being grown, and tossed. The solution was to give poor people “food stamps” they could use to buy food that would otherwise be left to rot. Their health was improved, farmers were more financially secure, and the surplus production capacity was maintained. That was the origin of food stamps under the administrations of Truman, and also expanded under Eisenhower. In 1969 the Nixon administration expanded the program again, and added some restrictions to eligibility. This was the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP).
The new SNAP food stamps cost us nothing extra from the existing agricultural production price controls. The school nutrition programs cost us nothing extra from the existing agricultural production price controls.

If DOGE is still functioning, NONE of the Gov’t benefits being paid should be allowed to operate without DOGE auditors being present. The $ lost in these programs MUST be vastly improved if they are continued to operate for America’s sake. A private business would NEVER survive in this environment but the lost $ mean NOTHING to the Gov’t who never runs out of Tax $.Same old same old. Got to believe. there is a better way!
Anytime you have an individual collecting benefits from 5 different states smells like fraud and it is fraud! They’re not that stupid to know they are getting more than they deserve! The jail cell is waiting for them!Don’t worry about the people who have been getting less and trying to make ends meet! Some folks do need assistance to survive!
Some people are so ignorant with these comments. You have people who are on Social Security that need these Snap benefits to able to eat. You have single Mothers trying to make ends meet who need these benefits. You cannot lump everyone together. And honestly it’s none of your business what they buy, that’s on them, if they choose to eat unhealthy it’s not your concern!
