So wait a minute….assault is 3-6 months in jail. And yet this POS cop gets a 5 day vacation, gets to keep his job, and has to “attend” de-escalation training? Meridian PD is a sad joke.
He was off duty, so he miss-used his authority. He was not in an official capacity and hitting someone for asking for badge number is assault. I would ask to see his warrant of appointment because he looked like he was unsat if in official capacity.

I’ve asked for badge numbers several times. In fact, one time it cost the cop a promotion to better duty because he did wrong. Actually, I feel bad about that one.
This is why people say to defund the police. you can’t blame the the people for their reaction to this kind of garbage.

this is why we need a whole new set of laws for public/governemnt workers. starting with making it illegal to lie to the public. Second all government employees shoudl be subject to all changes in the laws for five years before non-public employees are subjected to them.

This kind of behavior is what gives all cops a bad rep. Unfortunately, we hardly ever hear about the heroic and good behavior which I think is probably more than norm than what this idiot guy did. I truly hope there will be satisfactory consequences for him.
